PEKIN HAS
“SAVE A LIFE DAY”
On December 19th Pekin High School students went through training for CPR. The entire school took one day out of their normal classes and are spending the entire day working on how to save the life of choking, unconscious, and breathless individuals. There are a total of 17 areas that will be covered and the students will move through 7 different stations that will focus on all these The student body will be divided up into 7 different teams that will move through the stations and then during the 8th period the entire school will take the written test to see how much we have learned. The idea is to have intense training of students and teachers so they may all become certified in CPR. CPR class has been taught in December for many years and it really seems that learning the procedures was always difficult because we were meeting every other day and the carryover was always difficult. With this one day effort we will try to intensify the training and the students and any teachers that want to become certified will have the opportunity to do so. We feel that with this intense training the ideas and procedures will stick with them more. It is also a break from the routine classes that the students are involved with daily.
