News from the Music Department

MUSIC FESTIVAL

Congratulations to Annie Jones, Erin Mosinski, Kristen Freeman, and Cohen Philips on being selected to participate in the 2010 Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College.  The Dorian Festival is the largest select vocal festival in the United States, having student participation from five states.  The festival was held January 10 and 11 on the Luther Campus.


STATE PIANO CONTEST

State Piano Contest will be held February 13th at Ottumwa High School.  Pekin has two students participating, Cathy Day, the daughter of John and Ann Day, and Rachel Wonderlich, the daughter of Rob and Corrina Wonderlich.  Cathy and Rachel will be performing a duet entitled, "Jubiliation" by Robert Vandall at 1:09 p.m. and this performance is open to the public.   Rachel and Cathy are piano students of Mrs. Kay Evans.


MUSIC DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER

SUB SANDWICHES for Super Bowl Sunday, are going to be assembled this Thursday, February 7th beginning at 1:30 p.m..  The music department is asking for healthy, student volunteers to stay after school to help make these sandwiches.  We also need parent volunteers for supervision from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.  As a parent, if you are able to help, please contact Mrs. Hagedon, Mrs. Evans, or Mr. Taylor at 319-695-3705.  Sandwich orders may be picked up for delivery beginning at 5:00 p.m.
