Middle School Science

Sixth grade science students have recently completed a unit on water cohesion/adhesion.  One experiment had students find out how many water droplets could be put on a penny without overflowing – the dome effect.  Another experiment was to participate in a large soap bubble contest.

Students in 7th grade are dissecting tulips to understand their parts.  This is part of a botany unit – the study of plants.

Geology is the unit that 8th graders are currently involved in.  They are studying the difference between the three types of rocks – metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary.  They will be conducting tests for hardness on various minerals according to Moh’s  scale of hardness.

The middle school academic fair is coming up on February 3.   Students should be putting their finishing touches on their projects.
