It's Always Windy at Pekin!
2nd grade students, Katie Porter, Sydney Jones, and Cody Silvers recently spent time making a weather vane and studying wind direction. Mrs. Brisby led this group of students through a non-fiction literature lesson that incorporated several cross-curricular activities. Students practiced their reading, listening, vocabulary and writing skills. They developed graphic organizers to focus on the main idea and supporting details of the story. They connected their learning to science concepts by building weather vanes and putting them to the test on one of the windiest days we have had this fall, but remember...it's always windy at Pekin.
