5th Grade Christmas Fun

On December 19, the Pekin fifth graders will visit two adult residential care facilities in Fairfield.  Approximately 38 students will board the bus donning their holiday hats and Christmas attire.

They will be visiting Sunnybrook Assisted Living and Parkview Care Center. The students will perform a holiday collection of readers’ theaters and sing traditional Christmas carols to the residents.  After their performance, they will visit with the residents and give each person a hand-made Christmas card filled with holiday wishes in poem form. They will end their visit strolling the halls caroling to shut-ins and wishing all a very, merry Christmas.

Students may purchase a sack lunch from school, bring their own lunch from home or bring money to eat at McDonalds between performances.  They will return to the school in time to ride busses home.

This will be a delightfully inspirational way to begin their 2017 Christmas vacation.
