2nd Grade News
Second graders have been very busy this fall. It has been fun watching their progress in Reading and Math.
We continue work on Spelling Words, Journeys Unit Lessons and Stories, Small Group Reading, Whole Group Reading, and Accelerated Reading. Students have been improving writing sentences on their own. They are doing a nice job of reading and doing directions on their own assignments, as well.
In Math, 2nd graders have been working on Mental Math and Fluency, Strategies, Math Journals, Practicing our Lessons with Games, and Home Link Homework. Students have been adding, subtracting, writing and counting numbers by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s, and working with pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
Our Science Curriculum lets us use hands-on materials. 2nd graders have been studying Solids and Liquids. They enjoy small group and whole group lessons and activities, keep Science Notebooks, and read from our Science Books.
Of course students really look forward to P.E., Art, Music, Tag, Guidance, Library, Keyboarding, and Pick a Better Snack Lady.
We really enjoyed talking with parents and guardians at Conferences, and sharing work that their child has been doing with them.
