Elementary Veteran's Day Assembly

Several student's taking part in the 2012 Veteran's Day Assembly.

Pekin Elementary students grades K-5 attended a Veteran’s Day assembly that was held on Friday, November 9.   The colors were presented by the Richland American Legion Post 504 members Richard Bond and Frank Neff, who are veterans of the Army National Guard. They presented along with enlisted service seniors, Thomas Slaney and Andrew Hawley. 

Specialist Mike Silvers, who is a 2003 graduate of Pekin High School and part of the 411th Engineer Company from Washington, IA, also assisted with the colors.  Local Boy Scout Troops folded the flag along with a reading of what each fold represents.  Fourth and fifth grade students presented the Pledge Allegiance as well as a reading of “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.”
