3rd Grade News
The third grade group was very excited to welcome some visitors to our classroom. Garett’s great-grandparents, Margaret and David Wilson, came on Friday, February 28th to share one of Garett’s favorite childhood books. She read the story, Otis and the Tornado, written by Loren Long. Mrs. Wilson emphasized to the students how important reading is, and the many joys that people can find in reading. Throughout the story, she questioned the students about what she had read and even threw in some storm safety protocols. Within this story, Otis often said, “put puff puttedy chuff.” Every time Mrs. Wilson would get to this part, Garett would always chime in with a smile. It was very evident that Garett had found the enjoyment of reading with his great-grandma.
Something as little as reading to your child can make a huge impact on their reading ability. Studies have shown that it takes as little as twenty minutes a day to see growth within their reading. Not only will your child become better readers, but the memories that they will make reading with a loved one will last forever!
