How to Help Children Build Resilience in Uncertain Times

There are many changes and unknowns for parents, students, and teachers as we begin this new school year. As a parent or guardian, you can do things at home that help build your child’s resilience in difficult situations. Resilience is the ability to bounce back or quickly recover from difficulties. We have all had to become flexible over the past 6 months, each time building our resilience. At times, we still may find ourselves saying “I feel like I’m failing” or “I feel helpless”. These experiences are opportunities to model and teach lifelong resilience skills to our children. Below are two examples of positive modeling Dr. Ken Geinsburg provided in an article he wrote for healthychildren.org:
