Pekin Community School District is please to announce the appointment of Aaron Deutsch as the new principal at Pekin Elementary School and administrator of the Pekin Community Child Care Center beginning July 1, 2025. With a strong background in education and a passion for student success, Mr. Deutsch brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the district.
Deutsch joins Pekin from Ottumwa School District where he served as Assistant Principal at Evans Middle school and the high school. Aaron is also a familiar face at Pekin having served as a science teacher, Dean of Students and Activities Director. Over the course of his 12 years in education, he has demonstrated a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students.
“We are thrilled to welcome Aaron to our leadership team,” said newly hired Superintendent of Pekin, David Harper. “He stood out in a competitive field of candidates for his dedication to academic excellence, student focused approach and his collaborative leadership style.”
Mr. Deutsch holds a Professional Administrator’s License from Iowa State University. Mr. Deutsch’s leadership philosophy is rooted in academic study, reflective practice and observation of effective leaders both within and beyond the classroom.
“I am honored to join the Pekin community as the elementary principal for the 2025-26 school year,” said Deutsch. “I look forward to working with our students, families, and dedicated staff to build on the school's successes and support every child's growth.”
