Bedding Drive

As part of Community Service Day, Pekin Schools are partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Washington/Keokuk Counties to help build beds for children in need right here in Keokuk County. Sleep in Heavenly Peace serves children ages 3–17 who are currently sleeping on floors, sofas, or other unsafe conditions.

On April 8, students will help build beds, and leading up to that date, Pekin Schools are hosting a bedding drive to ensure each bed is delivered with complete bedding. We are accepting new, unopened twin-size sheet sets, comforters, bed-in-a-bag sets, standard pillows, and waterproof mattress protectors. Kid-friendly or neutral colors and patterns are encouraged.

To make donating easy, an Amazon storefront has been created so items can be shipped directly to the school. Items may also be purchased locally and dropped off. Monetary donations are welcome, with all funds staying local.

Donations may be dropped off at the Pekin High School Office, Attn: Christy Gambell. For questions or to apply for a bed, please contact Christy Gambell.
