NEW NEWS:

  1. Today is a B Day.

  2. Late Bus leaves at 5:45 p.m.

  3. Just a reminder...please do not park in the reserved parking spots in the middle rows of the parking lot.  Not all of the spots are painted but they are still reserved.

  4. 2020-21 high school Yearbooks can be picked up in the high school office.

  5. There will be a FFA member meeting today during dens in Mr. Lamb’s room.

  6. Junior class meeting during dens in Ms. Goudy's classroom. 

  7. Central College will be here on Thursday, September 16th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. to talk to any interested seniors.  If you would like to attend please stop in the highschool office before lunch on Thursday and pick up a pass. 

  8. School pictures will be taken next Wednesday, September 22nd.  Picture Packets are available in the offices.  

  9. Sign up for the PSAT!  The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and PSAT 10 measure what students learn in school, determine if students are on track for college success, and open doors for opportunities to prepare and pay for college. The PSAT/NMSQT is open to 10th and 11th graders in the fall in October.  PSAT will be given during school hours on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.  Sign up in the main office by Wednesday, September 22!

  10. Spanish Club dues are $15 and should be paid in the office by this Friday.  See Ms. Coffin if you have any questions.

  11. Calling all students and coaches to join us on Tuesday, September 21st for the relaunching of Pekin’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  Pekin FCA will meet every Tuesday in Mr. Eidahl’s room during the lunch hour (12:40 -1:05).  Find us on Facebook @PekinPanthersFCA.  If you have questions, please contact Phil Parsons at phil@bordwellparsons.com or 319-480-6058.

  12. Yearbook Club will be meeting after school Monday and Wednesday in the secondary art room and also during dens in the near future with location and dates to be announced.

  13. Pekin will be hosting a pink out football game for the first time!  Shirts are now on sale for the event.   All proceeds will be donated to Bras for a Cause.  The cheerleaders will make the donation to Laurie Hornback once the funds are sent from Elite sports!  Thank you so much for your support!!! https://stores.teamelitesports.com/pekin_pink_out/shop/home

  14. HS Volleyball is now selling Pekin Jackets.  Two jackets are on display in the HS office.  They are non sport specific and will have Pekin Panthers and the logo on the front corner of the chest.  Choose red or black,  hooded, zip front and water resistant.  There is a sign up sheet in the HS office.  If you have any questions, please contact Rusty Crabtree at 641-233-8435 or rusty.crabtree@pekincsd.org.

  15. XC at Diamond Trail Golf Course starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

  16. JH Volleyball at home on Thursday with Wapello starting at 4:30 p.m.

  17. JH Football at home on Thursday with Mediapolis starting at 5 p.m.

  18. HS Volleyball at home on Thursday with Lone Tree starting at 5:30 p.m.

REMINDERS:

  1. A reminder to ALL students...you MUST sign in and out at the office if you are late or leaving early during the day.  The office must have written permission or a phone call from the parent or guardian or the student will not be allowed to leave.  Students need to talk to Christy before checking out.

  2. The Pekin Boosters Association is looking for members! The Boosters are planning some exciting things for this school year. If you are interested in joining the Boosters, membership forms are available in the junior high and high school offices, on the Pekin Boosters Facebook page and available during volleyball and football games. If you have questions about the Boosters Association, please email pekin.boosters@pekincsd.org.

  3. Community Service Opportunity...The Oskaloosa Disc Golf Club is working toward finishing up their new disc golf course in Oskaloosa.  They are needing help with picking up sticks, raking,  filling in holes and more to complete the course.  The work session will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  at Caldwell Park in Oskaloosa near the Mahaska County Conservation Building, 2342 Highway 92 East.  Come the entire time or help as long as you can.  If you would like to help, sign up with Mrs. Brom before Friday, September 17th.

  4. 7th & 8th gr. Students are not allowed to have pop during school hours.  You may not purchase pop during school hours.   If we see you with pop, it will be taken to the office and you may pick it up at the end of the day.
