On Wednesday, October 14th, our Pekin Schools students in grades 9–12 will be heading out into our surrounding communities for a morning of service! Students will be traveling to Hedrick, Richland, Ollie, Fairfield, Ottumwa, and Sigourney to give back, lend a helping hand, and make a positive impact.
A special thank you to Corteva for sponsoring our Sleep in Heavenly Peace “Build a Bed” project! Some of our students will be rolling up their sleeves to build beds for children and families in need, helping ensure that more children have a safe, comfortable place to sleep.
We are proud of our students for taking the time to serve others and represent Pekin Schools with pride. Thank you to the communities, organizations, and partners who make this day possible!

Come learn how the Bond proposal will impact our community and our school district. A representative from Piper Sandler will be available to discuss and explain the property tax impact of the bond.
This will meeting will be in the media center with tours of the building available.

Homecoming Update in Hedrick for September 16th:
Girls Powderpuff Football has been postponed for tonight. A makeup date for Powderpuff will occur next week in the evening (date to be announced). Tonight's parade, coronation, and fireworks are on as scheduled in Hedrick. We will now be introducing fall sports teams outside after coronation before the fireworks (weather pending). One food truck and one coffee truck will still be available. A rain date for fireworks is scheduled for Friday night after the football game.

The Pekin Childcare Center is looking for warm-hearted community members to serve as Volunteer Grandparents. Your presence makes a world of difference in the lives of our children. If you are interested or know someone that would be interested, please see the details on the flyer.
Pekin will host Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 25th from 5:30–7:00 PM. Teachers will be in their classrooms to welcome students and families.
The first two days of school, August 27th and 28th, will be early dismissals at 1:15 PM.
As a reminder, every Friday throughout the school year will also be a 1:15 PM early dismissal for teacher professional development.
To kick off our school year with Opaa! Food Service, all Pekin students will be able to enjoy free breakfast and lunch on August 27–28.
Families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and let students sample the breakfast and lunch options that will be offered throughout the year.
A second‑chance breakfast will also be available for students at the secondary who arrive late or need a little extra fuel to start their day.
